HOT News!!

In September, Dave went on a fact finding trip to various observatories on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands.

Part of the visit was to look at the ways the observatories undertake public outreach/communication, as part of his role with the IAU. Also this trip enabled AURIGA to forge links with international organisations and obtain UNIQUE HIS RES images for our shows.

Pictured above (L to R) Dave with the observatories behind him, standing with Javier Mendez under the William Herschel telescope, On the roof of the Swedish Solar Scope, With Javier looking at the Isaac Newton Telescope, Dave Reflected in a mirror from the MAGIC Gamma Ray scope

On Wednesday 20th December 2007, Dave was delighted to open a new science facility at Royston High School & Science College in Barnsley.

Following in the illustrious footsteps of Dr Allan Chapman Who opened the last facility, Dave was honoured to accept an invitation to open the college's new outdoor science 'Quad' and even more honoured when the school decided to call it after Auriga Astronomy 'The Auriga Sky Quad' to our knowledge this is the first school facility in the UK officially named after either a mobile or fixed planetarium!
