Star Dome Shows

Our shows are constantly evolving to reflect the ever changing nature of the universe. Information and images are kept up to date (or shows are reviewed at least twice a year). New concepts are introduced (where appropriate) and 'HOT TOPICS' (Comets, Discoveries, Space Missions etc) discussed in whatever depth the client wishes.

Unlike many of our competitors, we produce & edit our own movies! In consultation with various agencies around the world, this ensures that what we offer to you is UNIQUE to us, and always will be!

ALL our Solar System shows reflect the changes post 24th August! i.e. 8 major and 3 dwarf planets and an explanation of why these changes have been made!

The Dome requires 6.5 square metres of floor space and a clear ceiling height of 3.5 metres! in addition we require access to 1 13amp socket. In the event of an emergency the dome can be emptied/deflated in seconds. We operate 2 domes, One has an entry tunnel, the other entry is via a full height Zip (no crawling)

Shows generally consist of computer projected movies (where possible) and images, set to a classical music background, followed by the sky on the night of the show projected using our planetarium Star Projector. This projector accurately shows the positions of 3000 stars, the Milky Way, M31 (Andromeda Galaxy) naked eye planets and much more, we can also simulate the apparent movement of the stars through a 24hr period, as well as showing the position of the Sun/Moon throughout the year.

We are one of only a few Fully Computerised mobile Planetaria in the UK, and our starfield  projection is the most accurate and up to date available.

The Majority of our shows are Astronomy/Space Science based, and have been painstakingly researched in association with organisations such as NASA / ESA / ESO etc to ensure our images and information is 100% accurate.

We thought the shows were very good, and well worth the money. Excellent.         Gringley  School
Our Non-Astro shows include Greek & Roman, Ancient Egypt, Light Pollution, Myths & Legends etc, these are shows from an astronomical point of view, but are not pure astronomy shows.

Shows last as long as you want them to! but generally public shows last 30 mins, and school shows 45 mins (these times are a rough guideline only. School shows also contain a time set aside for Q&A at the end of the period in the dome (where possible).

In environments where it is impractical to use the dome (very very few!) similar content can be projected in a 'lecture style' BUT the stars cannot be shown 'in the round' but projected onto a screen or wall. To compensate for this 'lack of dome' experience, our presenters actively ensure the sessions are as interactive as possible.

We try where possible to operate a 'minimal paperwork' system to ensure you only have 1 form to complete, and our invoice is presented on the day of the show (unless you request otherwise).

ALL our shows include a CD rom of appropriate support material (our school CD has over 600MB of data, and can be networked on your school computers).

We try and ensure that we give our clients What They Want not what we want you to see! With minimal disruption to your activities on the day of the show.
